Well in staying true to the 70’s TV series we have another tits and ass film with not much of a plot, other than to showcase braless women in action scenes. Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, regardless of all the re-filming of more scenes to spice it up, still doesn’t have what it takes to be a summer blockbuster. Even Demi Moore’s (G.I. Jane) character Madison Lee is lacking in a real storyline and talent. Sure her newly renovated $250,000 body could be considered hot, especially for a 40-year-old mother of three, but that was all she was, eye candy as the fallen angel, oh spank her. The movie opens with the angels, Natalie Cook (Cameron Diaz, Gangs of New York), Dylan Sanders (Drew Barrymore, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind) and Alex Munday (Lucy Lui, Chicago) rescuing an FBI agent in what appears to be a Himalayan country. He has one of two rings that contain microchip data of all the people in the witness protection program. The other ring bearer is Bruce Willis (Rugrats Go Wild!), but by the time you match the voice in his 20-second cameo, he is dead. So now someone has both rings and is murdering protected witnesses and it is up to the angels to save the day and shake a little booty while they are at it. Bosley has been replaced by Jimmy Bosley (Bernie Mac, Head of State), which is also a running theme suggesting that angels come and go so why not Bosleys. We have Natalie moving in with longtime boyfriend Pete Komisky (Luke Wilson, Legally Blonde II) and throughout the movie she is avoiding the idea he might propose. Alex is on a break with her boyfriend actor Jason Gibbons (Matt LeBlanc, Lost in Space), I guess we are supposed to associate this with Ross and Rachel and their “break”. Dylan’s big news is she is not really Dylan, but a member of the “witness protection program” because she helped put away former boyfriend and Irish mob thug, Seamus O’Grady (Justin Theroux, Mulholland Drive). In an effort to save the day, which we know they will because it is a movie, the Angels spoof other films like Flashdance for one. Then with the guidance of former angel Kelly Garrett (Jaclyn Smith) in her brief cameo, the trio comes together and saves the day. Instead of creating a real storyline and action scenes director McG is back at it sampling other movies to piece together his own. In the music industry this is plagiarism, but in Hollywood it is spoofing. Spoofing makes for a funny film, but not much in the way of substance. Also appearing in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle were Robert Patrick, Crispin Glover (Willard) as the Thin Man, Joan Blair, Pink, Shia LaBeauf, Will Leong, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and the voice of John Forsythe (Charlie's Angels) as Charles Townsend that is the glue to it all. Because this film was funny, the outfits interesting and I love to see Cameron dance, I gave it seven couches out of 10, but lets hope the next movie spends more time on plot and dialogue than giggly boobs. See ya.
