As Beavis & Butt-Head may have said, uhhhhh, breasts. That’s right, those lovely, usually round, luscious objects of many a man’s desire. Then there’s Stifler, huh, huh, you said Stifler, huh, huh. OK, now you know what level of humor you are dealing with in American Pie, American Pie 2, and now American Wedding, humor at the level of 16 to 24 year old males. And although I am no longer in that age range, I still enjoy this type of humor. The film starts off with good old Jim (Jason Biggs) screwing up his proposal to now longtime girlfriend and band camp legend, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan). Of course Jim’s dad (Eugene Levy, Bringing Down the House) makes an appearance (as does Jim’s equipment) and helps to mess things up even more. Well, as you could probably guess, Michelle accepts, and thus the planning and bachelor/bachelorette parties begin. Then as the wedding approaches, Michelle’s hottie sister Cadence (January Jones, Anger Management) comes to town, and all of Jim’s friends want a piece of that, especially Stifler (Seann William Scott, Bulletproof Monk) and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas). This leads to Stifler’s transformation into Steve, the refined gentleman. Then there is the same old Stifler for all the times he’s not near Cadence, which is the person who really provides most of the great laughs in the film. Throw in lots of gross jokes and strange sexual situations, and you eventually get to the wedding, as promised in the title. Anyway, lots of funny moments ensue, many of which you would recognize from the previews, but American Wedding does not quite live up to its predecessors level of hilarity. Some others in this Jesse Dylan directed movie are Thomas Ian Nicholas, Molly Cheek, Eric Allen Kramer, Nikki Schieler Ziering, Amanda Swisten, Alexis Thorpe, Deborah Rush, Fred Willard, and Jennifer Coolidge as Stifler's Mom. American Wedding is a funny movie. However, there are funnier movies out there, and this episode is not as good as the first two. Seann William Scott as Stifler is great, but I think in real life he would probably be just like Stifler (despite what he says on Leno). So, American Pie got a 9, Pie 2 got 8+, and now American Wedding receives seven couches out of ten. Later, gator.
