The Review:

Well, it is about time a suspense thriller does just that; be suspenseful and thrilling. In fact, I didn't predict the outcome until almost the very end. This film that was directed and stared Bill Paxton as Dad, does not measure up to The Sixth Sense and The Others in the shock ending, but it certainly is a worthy movie. Then when you are questioning if the circumstances could really happen, your doubts are answered. I can't give you much information on the plot without giving up the climax.

So here is the plot in a nutshell. FBI agent Wesley Doyle (Powers Booth from Men of Honor) enters the FBI headquarters in Houston around 10:30 PM on a raining night. Waiting in his office is a man (Matthew McConaughey, The Wedding Planner) who claims to know who the serial murderer "God's Hand" is.  McConaughey’s character tells Doyle that he is Fenton Meiks and his brother is the killer. Then we step back in time to 1979 when the young Fenton (Matthew O'Leary of Domestic Disturbance) and his younger brother Adam (Jeremy Sumpter) are living behind a rose garden with their Dad (Paxton from Vertical Limit). One late evening their Dad enters their room and wakes them up to tell them of his vision. An angel just visited him and told him that they are chosen as the hand of god and their duty is to slay demons because judgment day is coming. These demons are here on earth and are disguised as people. They will be given weapons and a list to go after these demons. Once they touch the demon, their sins will be revealed. Well their dad begins bringing home people and mutilating them and, as instructed by God, burying them in the rose garden.

Any more details and the plot would be ruined, so this is where I stop. Just like The Sixth Sense and The Others, you need to pay very close attention to details to get the full effect. Frailty is very dark not just in nature, but also in contrast. McConaughey does a fabulous job telling his story and the little twists are delightful. Also appearing in the movie is Luke Askew, Derk Cheetwood (U-571) and Blake King (The Legend of Bagger Vance). There are times when the plot is disturbing and shocking, but just as Revelations proclaims all will be revealed in the end as with Frailty. This film gets seven on the About-Movies.com scale- it could have used a little comic relief and or some Paxton booty to rate higher.

That is all folks.
