If you are looking for a lot of explosives in your diet, then Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever is just what you need. I do believe something was blown up in just about every scene. The movie began with random scenes and bits and pieces of information so it was confusing at first. Just when you have decided there are no good guys and they are all bad and it is just about who has the better weapon, a real storyline develops. The film jumps into play when Rayne Gant (Talisa Soto) has just picked up her son Michael (Aidan Drummond) at the airport when men that work for her husband Robert Gant (Gregg Henry, Payback) take him. So you are thinking what a prick of a husband when out of nowhere explosions, and a single female, Sever (Lucy Lui, Charlie’s Angels) kicks their ass and snags the boy. So the parents are upset and want the boy back. Then jump to FBI agent Jeremiah Ecks (Antonio Banderas, Spy Kids 2) drinking his troubles away when FBI head honcho Julio Martin (Miguel Sandoval, Collateral Damage) forces him to work on a case in exchange for the information on his dead wife not being so dead after all. Next we have Gant’s men gunning for Sever and she basically wipes out an entire street block and dozens of men and walks away. Now it is a countdown because the boy Michael has something implanted in him that could kill him in 28 hours. In the melee in the street Julio was shot by Sever. While he is bleeding in the street he confesses to Ecks that Sever knows where his wife Vinn is. So now, Gant, the FBI, and Ecks are looking for Sever. Good versus evil is not so clear-cut when you have all these people involved. In fact once the plot is revealed people are not what they appeared to be at all. Still confused? Well once all the smoke clears and the shooting stops, it all becomes clear. Also appearing in this Wych Kaosayananda film are Ray Park (X-Men), Terry Chen (40 Days and 40 Nights), Steve Bacic (The 6th Day) and Roger Cross. While explosions are the weapon of choice, very little dialogue is exchanged. But if you are thinking Sever is the ultimate weapon, she is flawed so Gant was pursing something even more destructive, but Sever is certainly pissed at him. While I love a good explosion, it was refreshing to have a female do most of the ass kicking for a change so I give Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever a seven on the About-Movie.com scale. Bu bye
