The Review:

Well if you are looking for a new horror series then it looks like Jeepers Creepers starring Gina Philips as Trish will be the one. I don’t think I have been so freaked out, scarred or disgusted while watching a horror flick since Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one mind you). Since I was alone and feeling a little creepy I had to see the humor in this horror movie and thankfully they tried to make you laugh with campy horror genre antics. But let me warn you, it helps if you are in the mood to have your heart racing. Now for the annoyances of this film, when you have a monster, creature, beast or whatever, there are rules and ways to escape once you have figured these out. This thang does not die, rejuvenates itself, flies for crying out loud and can move faster than humanly possible. It also drives some piece of crap truck with vanity plates. Tell me how the hell does something inhuman as well dead for a long long time get vanity plates, restore a truck to monster truck horse power and oh only feed every 23 years for only 23 days? What does it do the other 22 years and 341 days and why aren’t people hunting it down to kill it then. Why is it only an urban legend in that area when obviously it takes hundreds of people in its 23-day feeding spree? So many unanswered questions so you can bet there will be a sequel and another sequel.

The film starts out with Trish and her brother Darry (Justin Long, Galaxy Quest) traveling a long back road home from college on spring break. They engage in typical brother/sister chitchat and road games. This freaky truck races into them honking and swerving and scaring the shit out of them. The truck passes and they just about roll and die from the experience. As they continue on with their drive home they pass an old run down building which turns out to be a church and what is in front of this building, you got it, the truck and some guy dropping red stained white sheets with something very large wrapped in it down a tube of some kind. The person sees Trish and Darry and gets into the truck and chases them down again but this time ramming into them. They swerve off the road and escape. If you saw the trailers then you know at this point they go back to the church to take a look down that pipe to see if anyone is still alive in those sheets. Well it wouldn’t be a horror movie is someone didn’t do stupid things to get the attention of the evil being creating the horror.

Also in this movie is Patricia Belcher (Heartbreakers) as Jezelle. She is a psychic and is the source of most of the information about what is happening. Like the 23 he feeds for 23 days and whatever he eats becomes part of him stuff. Directing Jeepers Creepers is Victor Salva and coincidently he is the writer too. I enjoy a good horror movie and this one follows in step with Nightmare on Elm Street, which scared me more than any other horror film out there. I give Jeepers Creepers an eight on the About-Movies.com scale.

Be eating you.
