Imagine that, Freddie Prinze, Jr. in a romantic comedy geared towards a younger audience (you may have seen him in She's All That, Boys & Girls). I swear the he gets roles based purely on his looks and not based on acting ability. I'm not saying that he is a bad actor, only that he could use some work (and he's not the only attractive actor in Hollywood that gets roles based on looks, see Pamela Anderson for details). As to the movie, Head Over Heels, Prinze plays Jim Winston, the beautiful fashion guy who lives across the way from the museum geek Amanda Pierce (Monica Potter, Patch Adams). Amanda can see everything that goes on in Jim's apartment through the windows that face each other, but for some reason Jim doesn't seem to reciprocate the spying. Pierce at first falls for Jim after being run over by Hamlet (a dog Jim was walking), but soon becomes a bit alarmed when she thinks she sees Jim kill Megan O'Brian (Tanja Reichert, Scary Movie) after a party. So now Amanda and her fashion model roommates must discover if Jim actually killed this girl before her big date with him. The roommates Roxana (Ivana Milicevic, Enemy of the State), Candi (Sarah O'Hare), Holly (Tomiko Fraser), and Jade (Shalom Harlow, In & Out) are supposed to be up-and-coming models in New York, and do make for good eye candy for us male members of the audience. The acting in this film was so-so, the plot was even weaker than that, and Head Over Heels lacked any depth. However it did have some good comedy coming from the supporting roles, its only saving grace. One of those would be China Chow as Lisa, Amanda's co-worker. Mark S. Waters directed the film while Ed Decter wrote the screenplay, based on John Strauss' story. As you might guess I am not giving the film a high rating, but it definitely did have some good laughs. That said, I give the film five couches out of ten for the About-Movies.com rating. Farewell. Last updated: Saturday, October 28, 2006 05:37:37 PM |
