The Review:

First I would like to say, oh my gawd, Exit Wounds starring Steven Seagal was not only an action film, it was eye candy for women. This was not your ordinary testosterone action flick, this movie was made for women. I didn't even need to see Michael Jai White's bare ass to start drooling. The men in this movie were hotties like DMX (Romeo Must Die) and Isaiah Washington (True Crime). Exit Wounds was like a reunion of Romeo Must Die starting with director Andrzej Bartkowiak. It looks like he picked the cream of the crop and cast them in Exit Wounds. These men were all posturing and glitz. There were action fight scenes that didn't even fit the plot, just to show off some studly bodies and kick ass moves. You know, who cares, when you look that good throwing blows. But there was a little bit of a story there. Steven Seagal (Executive Decision) is a dirty Harry type cop named Orin Boyd that goes through a lot of his own cars, destroys police vehicles, creates huge scenes with a lot of gun fire, and embarrasses publicly the person he is trying to save, but he always gets the bad guy. I guess you could say this is the same ol dirty Harry film but without Clint Eastwood and with lots of martial arts instead of a big ass gun. The action begins with Boyd rescuing the President, against heavily armed men, a helicopter and a well organized group blocking off a bridge and keeping the secret service and cops at bay, and he does this all by himself. This heroic effort gets him in trouble yet again, so he is sent to the worst precinct in Detroit. Boyd starts off on the wrong foot with his new commander, Mulcahy (Jill Hennessy). He is sent to anger management group. This is where Tom Arnold joins the picture as Henry Wayne, talk show host Morning Man who also has anger issues kind of like the late Morton Downey Jr. Arnold fits into the picture later but his role was completely unnecessary, he must know someone in high places. Well to skip over huge pieces of the plot Boyd is assigned a partner, George (Isaiah Washington) and they go after bad guys- heroin dealers, or so it seems, Latrell Walker (DMX) and TK (Anthony Anderson, Me, Myself & Irene). They also try to find the dirty cops. There were only a few surprises to the plot but like any action/suspense film it is fairly predictable. Exit Wounds was heavy on the violence but it better be if I am going to enjoy it as an action movie. The men were steamy sexy hot. The fight scenes rocked but that is what we expect from Steven Seagal. What separates this picture from Seagal's other films, is it was not as preachy as his other work. DMX was believable in whatever role he assumed in this picture. I gave Exit Wounds an eight out of 10. Now if DMX exposed some ass or White dropped his towel it could have been a perfect 10.

Later.
