The Review:

Well generally not my type of films, lame comedy with silly storylines but Corky Romano is a good comedic escape and isn’t that was the movies are for, a short escape from reality. Saturday Night Live veteran Chris Kattan (Monkey Bone) is Corky Romano a pal sic son of a mafia leader Pops Romano (Peter Falk, The Princess Bride) who is his families last hope of infiltrating the FBI to destroy evidence that will convict Pops. When I say last hope he is the unlikely hope. Corky is easily rattled, jittery and clumsy. He is basically incompetent and girlish. Not your typical FBI material or mafia person. Well Corky was kicked out of the family when mom died. He is living in Florida working as a veterinarian assistant hoping to be in charge one day. He comes home when his family calls him to help. His older brother Paulie (Peter Berg, Aspen Extreme) the illiterate one and his younger brother Pete (Chris Penn, Rush Hour) the closet homosexual wire his crotch as he infiltrates the FBI and cover his ass when he gets into trouble. These two add a lot of comedy to the film. They are easily prone to anger because they are hiding their issues and anything can set them off.

Well the plot is simple the Romano family have an FBI informant, Uncle Leo Corrigan (Fred Ward of Joe Dirt) only they don’t know they have a snitch. So they have to get  someone undercover. Corky’s job is to get inside the FBI as C. Pissant and destroy the evidence. Corky’s first day on the job he is assigned to track down a brutal heroin dealer/murder who rips off men’s genitals with his bare hands this is his method of operation. While in the FBI Corky falls for agent Kate Russo (Vinessa Shaw of Eyes Wide Shut) who then leaves the case to work on the Romano case. She becomes Pops personal nurse hoping to get a confession out of him. Corky leads her to believe he is working on the Romano case too. Then there is Agent Brick Davis you know the one that puts the fly in the ointment. He is either jealous of Corky or just doesn’t like him but he is out to get Corky. In the meantime all of Corky’s screw ups actually work out and make him look more like a hero irritating Davis even more. Corky make’s friends with two other agents these two remind me of the two cops in Beverley Hills Cop. Agent Darnell (Dave Sheridan) and Agent Cox (Roger Fan) when they get into trouble Corky bails them out. They take on some of Corky’s quirks like his sweet disposition and choice of neck wear. The top FBI agent Howard Shuster (Richard Roundtree of Shaft) also becomes fond of Corky and gives Corky the benefit of the doubt all of the time. Well in all good comedy’s you know it all works out in the end but I won’t give away details that are only revealed in the end.

This movie is funny, it is silly funny but still funny. I am still amazed at the energy Kattan puts into one scene as Corky. Oh my gawd is made me tired just watching the energy expelled jerking and hoping around as much as he did. Turns out Corky is not as stupid as he comes across. He did graduate from college in veterinarian medicine. I enjoyed this mindless comedy and give Corky Romano a seven on the About-Movies.com scale.

Hugs one size fits all.
