I have to admit it, I am one of the first people in line for the next cheesy Thriller/horror flick that has some lame excuse for killing off the cast. But I have yet to find a spoof of anything that is worth seeing so Scary Movie, directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans doesn't get the mark for me. The tag lines are predictable and cliché. In fact, some of the scenes are just plain stupid but I will confess this film did have a few funny moments when I caught myself laughing out loud or I was just shocked by the lewdness of some of the gags. I don't recommend anyone see this picture and pay full price for it. But on bargain day or a matinee, this might be a humorous way to kill an hour and a half. The movie begins exactly the way Scream did, with Carmen Electra as Drew Becker, spoofing Drew. This opening held a few humorous and original moments that led me to believe just maybe this spoof might surprise me. Following loosely the Scream plot they tried and the key word is tried, to tie in, I know what you did last Summer, The Sixth Sense and The Matrix. Now for my rating of Scary Movie, I didn't get to see any cute naked bottoms and frankly I was happy about that. In truth I saw much more than I wanted to see (Parents, you might not want your child under 15 to see this film, even if they are with you) My rating of this silly and sometimes disgusting picture is five couches out of 10.
