The Review:

As the Gulf War ended and the two sides ceased fire, one group of Americans decided that they would steal gold from the Iraqis, who first stole it from Kuwait. Three Kings starts off as more of a comedy than a drama as the US soldiers easily capture Iraqi troops, including one who has a map stuck up his ass. From this pint on the film mainly focuses on Archie Gates (George Clooney, Out of Sight), Chief Elgin (Ice Cube, Friday), and Troy Barlow (Mark Wahlberg, Boogie Nights). These three set off across the desert into Iraqi held territory to a small border town where the Iraqis are holding the gold. But then the three end up caught up in the Iraqi response to the Shiite Muslims' uprising that President Bush had called for. And though the three originally only came to steal gold, they eventually have to help the Shiites just to survive. The film, directed by David Russell, sets off to show how people can change when push comes to shove, plus that though war normally brings out the worst in people, sometimes it can also bring out the best. Three Kings is written by Russell and John Ridley. The rest of the cast: Nora Dunn, Cliff Curtis, Judy Greer, Jon Sklaroff, Jamie Kennedy, Christopher Lohr, Spike Jonze as Conrad, and more. This picture runs just under two hours and is rated R for a hell of a lot of war and violence (oddly enough these two are often related to each other). I loved this film and the whole story. Clooney, Wahlberg, and Ice Cube are great (who would of thought two singers could actually act too, unlike other singers like Elvis). I will have to give Three Kings nine couches for the rating. One last item: no nudity.
