The Review:

What do you get when you combine college students, an old ugly loveseat, movies, and television equipment? Well you get the Out & About Movie Review starring me, Mike Stevens. Howdy folks and welcome back to the review portion of the show, this time we'll take a look at Simply Irresistible starring Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy, also know as Sarah Michelle Gellar (Can't Hardly Wait, Scream 2), plays Amanda Shelton, the owner and Chef of the Southern Cross Restaurant in New York. But the thing is, is that her food sucks and the business is going under until an angel like person, Gene O'Reilly starts to appear and make strange things happen. Amanda then becomes a good cook and her business blossoms with the increased clientele. Now the strange part is that this food is some how magical, and it appears that the emotions she puts into making the food are felt by those eating it. All the while, Amanda is falling for this uptown guy named Tim Bartlett, played by Sean Patrick Flanery. Tim is the manager of an upscale department store that is going to add an exclusive restaurant to the store, to be named Jonathan's after Jonathan Bendel, the owner of the store. But Tim is dating Chris, played by Amanda Peet (One Fine Day), but not for long as Amanda's food makes Chris even more full of herself, and so she dumps the undeserving Tim. So now Tim becomes attracted to Amanda, and Tim's secretary Lois helps to get the two together. Lois is played by Patricia Clarkson, who puts in a good performance. Now the question becomes, will Tim and Amanda find true love through food? Simply Irresistible was meant to be a Valentine's Day type moving for couples to see together. The film was written by Judith Roberts and Elisabeth Robinson, and directed by Mark Tarlov. Simply Irresistible is rated PG-13 so just about anyone can go see it. All the actors put in decent performances, but it was still basically the same old tired love story, but with a few cute special effects. Now I didn't hate the film, but then again I wouldn't see it again. Plus as always I must comment on the nudity, and unfortunately there was none, which pissed my off, since I could have sworn it was supposed to be a soft porn love story with Sarah Michelle Gellar naked all the time, but I guess that was just an illusion. Anyway time for the Out & About Rating of Buffy in Simply Irresistible, which receives just four couches out of a possible ten. For Out & About, I'm Mike Stevens your movie dude, see you next time.
