The Review:

Ohh ya, she is all that and even more. And this is the Out & About Movie Review of She's All That starring all the girls favorite hotty Mr. Freddie Prinze with a "Z" Junior and Rachael Leigh Cook. Cook plays Laney Boggs and Prinze (I Still Know) is Zack Siler. Howdy folks, I'm Mike and I'm gonna review this here movie for ya. The story goes a little like this: High school in California is just getting back from spring break and we find out just what everyone did. Turns out Zach's girl hooked up with some loser from MTV's The Real World at the MTV beach house in Florida. So now Zach, being a typical high school jock thinks he can get any other girl he wants, but wait his friends don't think he could make any girl the prom queen. So here's the bet, Zach must turn the socially inept Laney Boggs into the prom queen in six weeks. Meanwhile his ex, who is supposed to easily win, Ms. Taylor Vaughan, has a hell of a time with her new celebrity boyfriend. With Zach hanging out with Laney, Laney becomes liked and somewhat popular, and her little brother Simon, played by McCauley Culkin's little brother, is no longer picked on by everyone. We also discover that Laney isn't just an awkward teenager, but an attractive young woman and a good artist to boot. Also we find out that Zach isn't just a popular jock but a bright young man with offers from several Ivy League schools, and he has feelings too! But wait a minute, wasn't this just supposed to be a bet? Well ya, but like most movies like this the main character falls for the attractive peasant, or in this case the unpopular girl. As with all high school comedies She's All That has the usual plot of boy trying to get girl, who screws himself over, but still gets the girl. The movie was funny, especially the scene with the pizza and the super sized balls. Others in the film include Kevin Pollak as Laney's dad, Mattew Lillard (Scream) as Brock, not Rock, Hudson, Paul Walker as Zach's friend Dean, and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe as the bitchy Taylor Vaughan. Robert Iscove directed the film and R. Lee Fleming Junior wrote it for the Fox studios. I definitely enjoyed myself watching She's All That, but there really wasn't anything new about this picture that I haven't seen before in movies like Sixteen Candles, Can't Hardly Wait, and The Breakfast Club. Once in a while just a good old comedy is enough, but I guess I wanted a little more out of a big screen version of Beverly Hills 90210. Time now for the Out & About rating of She's All That, which gets a five, that would be five couches out of a possible ten couches. I have been Mike Stevens for the Out & About Movie Review, see you all next time here on the old musty couch.
