Oh ya, my kind of movie. Sex, nudity, and girls on girls. Welcome to another Out & About Movie Review, I'm Mike Stevens your movie dude with a review of the sexy drama Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michelle Gellar (Simply Irresistible), a.k.a. Buffy. This Columbia Pictures film is very erotic, and that made me like it instantly. Now not all sex flicks are good, Showgirls for one was definitely not good. But I really liked this one. The acting wasn't the best I've ever seen, and the premise is a bit disturbing, that being sex with one's step brother or sister. Anyway the story goes a little like this: Sebastian, played by Ryan Phillippe, sleeps with all the rich little girls and destroys them just for fun, but he never is able to get the one girl he most wants, his step-sister Kathryn, played by Buffy. Along comes a new headmaster at their prep school, and with him his daughter as well. This daughter is Annette, a girl who wrote in a teen magazine why she is still a virgin and how she plans to wait for that one special guy. So the bet becomes that Sebastian has to get Annette, played by Reese Witherspoon (Pleasantville), in bed or he losses his precious Porsche. If Sebastian wins he gets to have his step-sister anyway he wants. As Sebastian tries to get Annette, he also is still busy ruining other high society girls lives like that of Cecile, who is in love with her music teacher. Selma Blair plays the naïve Cecile, who Sarah Michelle Gellar's character is out to destroy for her ex having interest in her. I think that's enough of the plot, other than there is a surprise outcome. Others in the movie are Louise Fletcher as Helen Rosemond, Joshua Jackson as Blaine Tuttle, Sean Patrick Thomas, Christine Baranski from Cybil who plays Cecile's mom, and Swoosie Kurtz from that old TV series Sisters. As to the movie itself, which is rated R for some really good nudity and sex scenes, the plot is good and a very demented. This is not a family film. Cruel Intentions is directed by first timer Roger Kumble, who I am actually older than, a fact that frightens me. He also wrote the movie. So its finally time for the Out & About rating for this sick and twisted, yet funny picture, that I give eight (really hard) couches to. So till next time, this has been Mike Stevens for the Out & About Movie Review. Last updated: Thursday, March 20, 2008 02:45:40 AM |
