The Review:

Well I actually made it into a movie theater this week so all you out there in the real world can watch me make a fool of myself review The Siege in this week's edition of the Out & About Movie Review, but naked style. Hello again I'm Mike Stevens and this is the Out & About Movie Review. The Siege is a terrorist thriller set in the Big Apple where FBI agent Denzel Washington (He Got Game) must hunt down a group of terrorists plaguing the city. Bruce Willis (Armageddon) plays an army general who doesn't, or does he, want to use military forces to stop the terrorist attacks on the US's most populous city. Annette Benning, not to be confused with KBVR TV's own Annette Orrick, plays the role of a CIA or NSA special agent who goes by several names. Benning's character is also sleeping with an informer, uses a lot of sexual innuendo in the dialogue with Denzel, and provides plenty of comic relief in this otherwise tense film. The story starts off with a bus bomb that turns out to be just a warning with blue paint. Then the real action starts as another bus is blown up, slightly injuring Washington. Soon the good guys, mainly Denzel and Antonio Scarpacge from Wings, ok that's not his real name but I just like saying it. His real name is Tony Shalhoub, and I must say is quite a versatile actor, and does a great job in this movie. Denzel and his partner, who plays an Arab-American, go after these Arab terrorists, trying to stop the group before the city is brought to its knees. The plot is good and flows along smoothly, you have some good explosions, tense moments, a few action scenes, and great acting by Denzel. The Siege brings up some tough issues concerning terrorism in the US and stereotypes of minorities. In fact that's one thing I liked about the movie is that it did make you think. One bad thing though as many people have pointed out is that Denzel and Bruce a have a seen near the end that look's just like Denzel's and Gene Hackman's scene in Crimson Tide, the only difference is that they're not in a submarine. So good acting, a few well placed laughs, tension, important social issues, but I must say, no nudity. All in all I liked the Siege. And unlike many others I don't think it portrays Arab-Americans in a bad light, I simply shows to what extremes people can be pushed to, if people are dying left and right. That is, it shows that the white majority in this country are willing to sacrifice the civil liberties of minorities if the situation arises, but remember that this is only a movie. Anyway, enough with the soap box for today. Its now time for the rating. So I will give The Siege an eight for the Out & About rating. As for me, I have been Mike Stevens for the Out & About Movie Review saying see ya, and wouldn't want to be ya.
