Action, explosions, but no nudity. This is what Lethal Weapon 4 is all about. Oh, and add in some pregnancies. But hey, I had nothing to do with those and you can't prove it in court. Lethal Weapon 4 was great. I am Mike Stevens with the Out & About movie review of the action flick, Lethal Weapon 4. Not only is there a lot of action but even some suspense as you try to figure out how all the characters fit together. And in addition to all this you have lots of laughs, though I must say Chris Rocks character, Mr. Biscuits or is that Lt. Butters, is not that funny in the beginning, but then again I have never been a real big fan of Chris Rock. Now on to the plot and characters. Once again Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are back at the LAPD with Joe Pesci as the unwanted sidekick and Rene Russo, oohh is she fine, as Mel's love interest and soon to be mother of his child. The story starts on the streets of San Francisco, well o.k. it's LA where some lunatic has a flame-thrower, an automatic weapon, and a bulletproof suit. The scene is funny with plenty of explosions. Then we move to the future where the film picks up in Murtaugh's boat where Pesci, Mel, and Danny have a shark in the boat when here comes an old rickety freighter to disrupt the tranquility and start off the main story line. You see the boat is carrying in illegals from China to work as slave labor when Murtaugh and Riggs interfere. Then freighter runs aground, Murtaugh's boat sinks, and we run into Chris Rock. Before you know it The fearsome threesome is after Uncle Benny, Wah Sing Ku (played by Jet Li, not to be confused jetliner) who just happens to be a bad ass mo fo kung fu fighter, and the rest of the Chinese mobsters. Lots of fighting, explosions and martial arts, plus great humor. Oh yeah, plus Mel is going to be a father and Danny is going to be a father in-law to Chris Rock, and Murtaugh's going to be a grandpa. But of course grandpa don't know who the daddy is and thinks Chris Rock is gay, which his partner Riggs is obliged to keep the rumors about Chris Rock's sexuality quite in question. All in all the Lethal Weapon 4 delivers what you expect from the Lethal Weapon Series, and the two detectives, who get promoted to captain, and then back down, prove that they aren't too old for this, that being catching the bad guys. But of course I don't think they have ever really caught a criminal, instead they just kill them, hey not a bad idea. Now for the Out & About movie review rating, I give it nine couches out of ten, which is thus far my highest rating. The only thing I could really ask for is that the poor Chinese dad hadn't gotten knocked off. That's it for this review and hope to see you next time, until then the couch is closed.
