Hello again to all of you watching at home, and a guten tag to all those watching in Austria tonight, I'm Mike Stevens and I'm here to give you my thoughts and criticisms of The Last Days of disco in this week's Out & About movie review. The Last Days of Disco is set in the early 80s in New York where yuppies are trying to make it in the business world by day and disco every night. The story focuses on two women fresh out of college who work at a publishing company and who become roommates. At times these two are friends and at other times they are ready rumble. The movie was written, produced and directed by Whit Stillman, I've never heard of him either, and has no stars. The cast includes Kate Beckinsale, Mackenzie Astin, Jennifer Beals, Robert Sean Leonard, and Chloe Sevigny to name a few. Now the acting wasn't bad and the story was interesting, though I don't care much for the music. Also the story isn't that original since there are other movies on the disco era like 54, which I don't plan on seeing. Now the story isn't just about dancing, sex, drugs, and women bitching about each other, it is really about friendship, loyalty between friends, and making comments about the time frame. The Last Days of Disco is rated "R" because there is some strong language, and there is also innuendo about sex and drugs. Bottom line I enjoyed the film but the story could have been better directed, acted, and moved a little faster. And a bunch of nudity would have helped, since as Ronald Regan said, I don't recall any nudity, he didn't say that about nudity, but he did say that he didn't recall or some crap like that. Any way back to the movie review where its finally time to rate this sucker. So for the Out & About movie review I give The Last Days of Disco five couches out of ten on ye old Out & About movie review raten' system thing-a-ma-jig. So for the Out & About movie review I have been Michael O. Stevens saying goodnight and chow.
