Movie Title: Scream 3
Rating: 6

Review: The third and final installment of the Scream trilogy is explosively gory. Scream 3, like Scream 2, jumps ahead from where the previous film left off. In Scream 3 Sidney has moved out to sunny Southern California to try and be anonymous while Cotton (the one Sidney originally had jailed for the murder of her mom) became very public. So shortly into the film Cotton is knocked off by a new killer (all the others were killed in the first two Screams). This fresh killing brings the whole gain back together, well OK only Mr. & Mrs. Arquette. Anyway the two meet up again on the set of Stab 3, the movie within the movie. In this inner movie (not the same as an inner child) Parker Posey plays Courtney Cox's Gail Weathers and Emily Mortimer is Sidney, while the original Sidney remains the beautiful Neve Campbell. Well anyway more people die, same o' same o'. In the movie the plot revolves around the inner movie (also not the same as an inner self), which that plot is based upon the original killings from the previous Scream/Stab movies. A bit confusing, but it hardly matters. The only things that count are how many people can they kill with action packed death sequences, and how many laughs they can squeeze in between these death scenes. And the film is fairly successful at both of these endeavors. The plot basically has the actors who are portraying those who died in the Scream movies dying off in the order that they were killed off in 'reel life.' While that is going on the audience is getting clues about who the killer is supposed to be, with a lot of misdirection in order to keep us guessing, and giving us new information on Sidney's mom. Plus we are told what the rules are for the third picture of a trilogy, much like we were told the rules of horror flicks and sequels back in the first two Screams respectively. Now the final item that I will reveal about plot oriented stuff is that yes, the killer is her long, lost brother, as you easily deduce from all of the trilogy references (the main reference to follow would be a comparison to the original Star Wars trilogy). Scream 3 is directed by the veteran of the first two, Mr. Wes Craven. The other important characters are the director of Stab 3 Roman Bridger (Scott Foley), Detective Kincaid (Patrick Dempsey), and the producer John Milton (Lance Henriksen). Also appearing in a cameo is Carrie Fisher (yet another trilogy reference). Jenny "my TV show bombed" McCarthy also shows up, but doesn't get much screen time, and we do not get to see her naked (suurrre she shows it to playboy but not us). Nor is there any nudity at all, which is a bit odd for slasher films. As to my thoughts on the movie. Well it had plenty of laughs and lots of blood, but I've never been a big fan of blood. You also have plenty of suspense, and personally I was never sure what character would turn up as the killer. But on the other hand, I have grown rather bored of the resurrected genre. In the end they literally leave the door open for another installment of this extremely successful movie franchise. I hope they leave it as it lays and do not go for number four, but that's just my poor, pathetic and completely unimportant opinion. As to Scream 3, I give it a rating of six couches on the sliding scale of ten. That is all. At ease.
