Review:
If you like action and car chases in your movies then you would love Ronin. On the other hand if you hate those things then you would probably dislike Ronin. However if your feelings toward car chases and action lie somewhere in-between, then there is still a chance that you will enjoy Ronin.
Basically this film is about ex-intelligence agents turning to a life of crime after the end of the Cold War. Robert De Niro plays one of these out of work agents looking to make money the only way he knows how. But things start to get complicated when some of the ex-agents' morals come up after finding out what their mission really is. These morals lead to conflicts, which in turn lead to some great action sequences, and to some even better car chases in Europe.
De Niro plays Sam, and he does a good job with the character, who is surprisingly not a mobster given De Niro's film history.
Action master John Frankenheimer directs the film that J.D. Zeik scripted. The rest of the cast includes Sean Bean, Jean Reno, Natascha McElhone, Skipp Sudduth, Stellan Skarsgard, Michel Lonsdale, and former Olympian Katarina Witt as the beautiful Natacha Kirilova.
Since it was an intriguing and action packed story I will give Ronin six couches on the About-Movies.com scale of ten couches. It does not receive more couches because action was more important than putting in a few good sex scenes showing off the attributes of the stellar cast of actresses. That's it for this one.
