About-Movies.com is a place to get a slightly different perspective on the movies you watch. We try to entertain you while giving you the vital information that you seek about the latest films at your local cinema. Of course there are so many flippn' movies out there that we could not possibly (at least with our budget) get around to viewing all of them, so please don't despair if you can't find the review you are looking for. Just find it somewhere else, and then come back to About-Movies.com when you want to be entertained. The ratings scale is in couches (see History for reason) and is on a scale of ten. This means that ten is good and zero is bad. Under four couches signifies that the movie pretty much sucked. Over six couches can be interpreted that the film was good (but like history, movies are open for interpretation). Four couches to six couches means it was not good, nor was it bad.

This website is a re-incarnation of a site that was formerly Out & About Online. That site was an informational site giving information on a student produced TV show called Out & About. Out & About was produced and televised on KBVR-TV, the student operated cable access station serving Oregon State University. Part of Out & About was a movie review portion that was designed to give approximately four minutes of programming on the 30 minute show. As the number of reviews increased, we started to post them on the web. Unfortunately some of the early reviews were deleted, but someday we hope to transcribe them from the videotape. Eventually the show left the air and only the website remained. Then university administrators eventually removed the site since the webmaster no longer attended OSU (some sort of technicality thing). Then in the winter of '99 that same webmaster coughed up the dough to put the site back up at this current location.

A little bit of trivia. We rate the films in couches because we used an ugly, old loveseat (by design) as the main prop for the old TV show. Most of the early reviews were never proof read so there are many mistakes. Also there is a distinct style difference with those reviews since writing for TV and print are very different.
